During our Traffic Control Training, participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to manage traffic hazards effectively and ensure the safety of workers, motorists, and pedestrians. This comprehensive course is essential for those involved in roadwork and construction, focusing on the responsibilities of traffic control persons and regulatory compliance. Course content includes:

  • Understanding Traffic Hazards: Learn to identify and address the specific and often unpredictable risks associated with traffic near work zones.

  • Risk Factors in Traffic Accidents: Explore the common causes of traffic-related incidents and how to mitigate them proactively.

  • Temporary Traffic Control Purpose: Understand the critical role of temporary traffic control in maintaining safety and minimizing disruptions.

  • When to Use Traffic Control Persons: Learn the scenarios that require trained traffic control persons and how to deploy them effectively.

  • Legal Requirements and Compliance: Review training and regulatory requirements, ensuring participants can apply their knowledge to any traffic control plan with confidence.

  • Traffic Control Person Positioning: Understand optimal placement for traffic control persons to maximize visibility and safety for all parties.

  • Signalling and Communication: Master proper hand signals and communication techniques to coordinate effectively with other traffic controllers and workers.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Learn about the mandatory PPE for traffic control persons and its role in ensuring safety and visibility.

This hands-on course equips participants with the practical knowledge to create safer work zones and meet all legal and safety requirements. Ideal for roadwork crews, construction teams, and anyone responsible for traffic control, this training is essential for reducing risks and enhancing workplace safety.

Participants must wear appropriate clothing, as well as CSA-certified head, foot, and eye protection. We ask that you bring your own personal protective equipment (PPE) and that it is maintained and in good working order per the manufacturer’s specifications and regulatory requirements.
