Standard First Aid Training is a comprehensive two-day course designed to equip participants with essential First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills. Required for Ontario workplaces with six or more employees per work area per shift, this course ensures compliance with workplace safety regulations while preparing participants to respond confidently to emergencies.
Ideal for those who need training for work requirements or want the knowledge to handle emergencies at home, this course covers critical life-saving techniques, including CPR and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). With expert instruction and hands-on practice, participants gain the skills and confidence to protect lives and create safer environments in both professional and personal settings.
COURSE CONTENT
During our Standard First Aid Training, participants gain the comprehensive knowledge and practical skills needed to confidently handle a wide range of medical emergencies. Designed to meet workplace safety standards, this course provides essential training for responding to injuries and illnesses effectively. Course content includes:
Preparing to Respond: Learn how to assess emergencies, prioritize actions, and provide immediate care with confidence.
The EMS System: Understand how to engage emergency medical services effectively for faster, life-saving assistance.
CPR for Adults and AED Use: Master life-saving techniques, including adult CPR and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
Choking and Breathing Emergencies: Learn to identify and respond to airway obstructions, respiratory distress, and other critical breathing issues.
Mental Health First Aid: Gain awareness of mental health crises and how to provide initial support until professional help arrives.
Opioid Overdose Awareness: Recognize the signs of an overdose and learn how to administer naloxone as part of an emergency response.
Bleeding and Burn Management: Understand proper techniques for controlling bleeding, treating burns, and minimizing further injury.
Bone and Joint Injuries: Learn to stabilize fractures, sprains, and other musculoskeletal injuries.
Environmental Emergencies: Address emergencies related to heat, cold, and other environmental factors, ensuring preparedness in any situation.
This comprehensive training equips participants with the skills to respond effectively to workplace and everyday emergencies. Upon completion, participants receive certification, meeting regulatory requirements and enhancing workplace safety. Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Participants must wear appropriate clothing, as well as CSA-certified head, foot, and eye protection. We ask that you bring your own personal protective equipment (PPE) and that it is maintained and in good working order per the manufacturer’s specifications and regulatory requirements.
